Four Futures Contest

We are working on a Public Relations plan right now. Concerning this plan we would like to ask all Four Futures Contestants to give permissions to move their contributions at Visions.
With this permissions we can reorder every "future" a bit and so we can add an information board to each contribution. Please be so kind to help.

We have changed the rules for the contest a little bit. Single contributions may not consist of more than 35 prims, unless you have permission for more. Current contributions are all ok.


And... The WTY-HUD now offers TP, Twitter, Blog and Headsets.

Headset

In SL normal chat doesn't pass the barrier of 20m. For classrooms and events in Within Ten Years this can be an irritating issue for the interaction between the audience and performers.
The WTY-HUD is now expanded with a headset functionality with which the audience and the performers can interact with eachother whereever they are in the sim. It even has a private channel so only the active headsets can hear what you say.
A free copy of the HUD is available at the landing point.

Twitter

Users of the Within Ten Years HUD can now see the latest news about the Education & Innovation Center. The news is extracted from a Within Ten Years Twitter account (twitter.com/withintenyears). In the menu system, in the Specials submenu, users can now send their own tweet to the same Twitter account.
The HUD updates the Twitter news every ten minutes.

HUD

At the landingpoint of Within Ten Years you can get your free copy of the WTY Teleport HUD. With the HUD you can easily travel to a large number of places at the island. When all parts of WTY are developed, built and designed, we will update the HUD of course.

Visions

The Visions part of the new Within Ten Years Education & Innovation Island is ready. You are heartily invited to place your contributions again in the Four Futures Contest.
The separate small islands around the contest area will be filled with Trends-information.

Speuren

In Within Ten Years is een poëzie-toepassing ontwikkeld. De toepassing, Magnetic Poetry, is gemaakt ter ere van Half Short, die het hele Within Ten Years eiland bouwt. Het is een variant op het product "koelkastpoëzie". Magnetic Poetry is te vinden op "The Stack, platform 9". Ga op onderzoek uit naar dit platform en maak je eigen poëzie.

Workshops

TNO organiseert een workshop-reeks voor Educatie in een virtuele wereld. Het is bedoeld voor enthousiaste docenten uit het MBO, HBO, WO, afstandsonderwijs en bedrijfsopleidingen. Download hier de flyer.

When the Education & Innovation Island Within Ten Years is finished it will consist of seven parts:
Main building: Education & Innovation Games, and Meet & Greet Places;
Educate: Theatre for trying out new Education methods;
Innovate: Workshop-environment;
Visions: Futures Contest & Trends;
Stack: Explore a collection of Tools & Technology;
Sandbox: Build your own Education and/or Innovation concepts;
Exhibit: Show your own concepts to the world.

Work in progress

Gebouw

Het hoofdgebouw in Within Ten Years is nu beschikbaar om te gebruiken. Neem een kijkje om te zien hoe er hard wordt gewerkt aan het inrichten van het Educatie- & Innovatie-eiland. Klik hier om een kijkje te nemen.

Open

Open is een van de belangrijke kenmerken van het nieuwe eiland. Open in verschillende betekenissen. Open voor iedereen en ook in de betekenis van Open Innovatie, Open Educatie en Open Content. Kortom, Open om alle geïnteresseerden met elkaar via Within Ten Years te verbinden op de thema's Educatie en Innovatie (in het toekomstige internet). Daarnaast zijn in Within Ten Years "maatschappelijk" en "duurzaam" eveneens belangrijke thema's.

Vandaar dat in de bouw van het nieuwe eiland zowel het open karakter als het groene, natuurlijke zichtbaar wordt.

Markant

Het nieuwe eiland krijgt een centraal en heel markant ontmoetingscentrum. Het hoge, maar zeer open gebouw is tevens een oriëntatiepunt om naar en van alle toepassingsgebieden te komen.

De bouwwerkzaamheden op het nieuwe eiland zijn gestart. En het wordt MOOI!

Sky Platform

Het platform op het nieuwe Within Ten Years eiland is in de lucht. Je kunt je spullen er naartoe verhuizen. De link is: Sky Platform (SLURL)

Met dank voor je begrip dat er (in twee stappen) moet worden verhuisd.

Het is bijna zover...

Binnen enkele dagen levert Linden Lab het Within Ten Years eiland op. Er wordt dan zo snel als mogelijk een Sky Platform gebouwd waarop iedereen zijn of haar spullen van de huidige plek kan plaatsen. Vervolgens wordt het eiland zelf onder handen genomen om vorm te krijgen.
Within Ten Years gaat ervan uit dat de huidige plek voor 20 mei wordt ontmanteld. Tegen die tijd worden alle spullen die er dan nog staan automatisch aan de eigenaren geretourneerd. Gooi je spullen alsjeblieft niet weg :) en plaats ze de komende week op het Sky Platform, om ze daarna (hopelijk direct na de zomervakantie) bij de officiële opening op het eiland weer tentoon te stellen.
Een landmark van het Sky Platform zal zo snel mogelijk via een "Group Notice" en via een SLURL op overtienjaar.nl worden gepubliceerd.

Jongens en meisjes Linden

Na weken miscommunicatie en administratieve beslommeringen bij de jongens en meisjes van Linden Lab, is de aanvraag voor een innovatie- en educatie-eiland eindelijk goedgekeurd. Dat betekent dat nú pas het proces bij Second Life wordt gestart. Hopelijk zal nu binnen enkele weken het eiland beschikbaar komen.

De verhuizing gaat in twee fasen. Zodra het eiland beschikbaar is, wordt er een sky-platform geplaatst, waarop iedereen zijn of haar bijdragen aan Within Ten Years weer kan neerzetten. De oude plek wordt dan opgeheven. Daarna volgt de tweede fase: de inrichting van het nieuwe eiland. Op het moment dat de basis-inrichting klaar is, kunnen jullie bijdragen van sky-platform naar het eiland zelf worden verhuisd.
